We are offering two sessions that will be held virtually at 9:30am and at 1:00pm. Please sign up at one of the times below. Session 1 at 9:30 AM: https://arizona.greatheartsamerica.org/title1/morning/ Session 2 at 1:00 PM: https://arizona.greatheartsamerica.org/title1/afternoon/ Title I provides financial assistance to local educational agencies and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. “The purpose of the Title I annual parent meeting is to inform parents about our Title I Grant program, their right to be involved in their child’s education, and how our academies use the grant funds to fund student academic support and intervention,” said Missy Penniman, Academic Support Specialist for Great Hearts Arizona. The annual Title I meeting is used to explain Title I requirements, the school’s participation in the program (schoolwide or targeted, whichever is applicable), and the rights for parents to be involved. Topics of discussion include: A description and explanation of the school’s curriculum, Information on the forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and Information on the proficiency levels students are expected to meet; Review the school-parent compact and parent involvement: Explain the right of parents to become involved in the school’s programs and ways to do so; Explain that parents have the right to request opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. These sessions were created to answer your questions in relationship to Title 1: What is targeted Title I? What is school-wide Title I? What are the Title I Grant Program requirements? What is the school’s curriculum and forms of assessment? How can parents and families get involved? What resources are available for students who qualify for this assistance? The meeting will conclude with an open Q&A. Following the meeting, a brief survey will be distributed to collect feedback from attendees.
