Archway Lincoln Ranks #1

Archway Classical Academy Lincoln recently received statewide recognition as the top K-8 school in Arizona based on the last round of state testing.  The Great Hearts academy was #1 out of 1,343 elementary schools in Arizona and given the letter grade A according to the school report card recently released by the Arizona Department of Education.  The entire report can be viewed at https://www.greatheartsamerica.org/against-the-odds-public-charter-school-tops-the-chart-on-2021-22-academic-success/.

Each year, the Arizona Department of Education develops an annual achievement profile for every public school in the state based on an A through F scale. The system measures year-to-year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math, and science, the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners, indicators that an elementary student is ready for success in high school, and that high school students are ready to succeed in a career or higher education.

Great Hearts Academies provide a classical education that forms the whole student: heart and mind.  While we do not rely on scores as the holistic benchmark for human formation, we do appreciate the weight of this remarkable achievement and recognize that it is a result of the exceptional care and dedication of the academy.

Headmaster Toyin Atolagbe recently addressed students, parents, and faculty to celebrate this achievement.  “I just want to remind us that the state testing is administered to students in third, fourth, and fifth grade.  So, these students that you see here are the ones that made us shine by coming to school every day and learning from these great women and men that impart knowledge in them every day.  And you are the parents that partner with us and support us every day.”

Atolagbe acknowledged the setbacks many teachers have faced in recent years due to the pandemic but credits the tenacity of her faculty in showing up and supporting students for the academy’s outstanding ranking.  “At the heart of our team is a genuine love for one another and an understanding that we can only achieve our collective goals by working together. So, with a good sense of our mission, we show up daily with our hearts of service and an unwavering commitment to instilling virtue in our children. We cultivate habits of excellence in them that enable them to flourish as human beings. We do this as a team and in partnership with our lovely parents, with everyone rowing in the same direction.”
