Cicero Prep Choir Shines at Salt River Fields with National Anthem Performance Facebook Twitter Email This Post Cicero Prep March 6, 2025 There are few moments in sports as powerful as the singing of the national anthem before a game. For the Cicero Preparatory Academy Concert Choir, that moment became a reality when they were invited to perform at Salt River Fields, which is just a short walk from their school. Taking a break from their studies, the students stepped onto the field, ready to share their voices with the crowd. Their performance was met with resounding applause, making the day one to remember. Elliot Liles, Cicero Prep’s music teacher and choir director, said the excitement for the event built quickly. “I told a few sophomores in my first class about the plan, and by lunch, the whole choir program was rife with excitement,” he said. On the day of the performance, the students arrived at the stadium and were treated like VIPs, walking straight past the ticket booth without being stopped. They went straight to their warm-up and met the production team before stepping onto the field. Despite the big stage, they remained calm and focused. When the countdown came, they sang with confidence, delivering a flawless rendition of the anthem. The crowd responded with enthusiastic applause, and as the choir exited the stadium, they received even more praise. One elderly baseball fan told the students it was, “The best national anthem that he had ever heard at a game.” Liles said the experience was a special opportunity for the students. “It was a wonderful opportunity for the students, and we have already been asked to sing again for the following season.” With this performance, the Cicero Prep Concert Choir was able to showcase their talent while also strengthened their partnership with Salt River Fields, ensuring more great moments to come.
