Giving Tuesday – Archway Trivium

Archway Trivium November 27, 2023

What makes Archway Trivium a great home for students? Our community!

Ms. GashlerToday we are proud to share Ms. Sarah Gashler’s journey with Great Hearts. Although this is Sarah’s first year teaching at Archway Trivium, she is no stranger to our community. Sarah is a 2019 graduate of Trivium Preparatory Academy, beginning her journey with Great Hearts the first year Trivium opened in 5th grade- she has truly become a role model for homegrown Trivium talent!

Sarah credits many of her teachers for having an enormous impact on her life both personally and academically, but her 8th grade Latin teacher Mr. Spiotta was so inspiring that Sarah knew she wanted to become a Latin teacher herself one day. Sarah hopes to foster a love for the Latin language and classical education in her students, just like Mr. Spiotta did for her.

“Classical education prepares you well for life,” Sarah admits.

After leaving Trivium, Sarah studied Fine Arts at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from Great Hearts asking if she would consider becoming a teacher at Trivium. The thought of returning to Trivium to share her passion for art was an exciting one! Within a few hours, she received a call to interview the next day, but not for an art teaching position. Sarah was hired as an Archway Trivium Latin teacher, and her 8th grade dream quickly came true. Sarah has since been working alongside Mr. Kirk to develop rich, immersive conversational Latin lessons for 2nd-5th grade scholars.

Ms. Gashler’s colleagues include many of her former teachers and she is thrilled to be back at Trivium. Her colleagues have welcomed Sarah with open arms and are thrilled to see a former student returning to Trivium as a teacher.

“It brings me so much joy to work with individuals who were my students in the past. To see them mature into co-workers and friends; it closes the loop,” said teacher James Manion.

Ms. Gashler is a shining example of how Trivium’s curriculum, teachers, and community impact the lives of our scholars and families and help our students fulfill their dreams.
