Giving Tuesday – Arete Prep Facebook Twitter Email This Post Arete Prep November 28, 2022 What makes Arete Prep such a special place? The answer is: our community! Today we’re sharing a glimpse of Mr. Michael Pati’s story. He’s been an Arete Prep teacher for over four years and currently teaches 6th Grade History, and 8th Grade Algebra. Being an Arete Prep alumnus, when Mr. Pati graduated college in 2019, he decided to return home and apply for a part-time math teacher position at Arete Prep. “I enjoyed the experience of building relationships with students and staff so much I asked for full-time position for the Spring Semester and ended up teaching Math and Latin through the COVID shutdown.” Mr. Pati also shared that he really appreciates the joy of seeing students grow into the challenges and responsibilities of Arete Prep’s honors curriculum. “Each student represents so much potential to me and I especially enjoy seeing the tremendous leap kids take from Middle School to High School.” He says that the camaraderie and collaborative spirit that the faculty shares with one another, makes a huge difference and truly sets a foundation for what makes Arete Prep so special. Mr. Pati has a message to scholars who want to pursue a career in mathematics, and that is that as long as they are at Arete, he considers them all to be mathematicians. “They are asked to use the spiraling and repetition of problems to build their own understanding of the mathematical concepts that we cover in a manner that is equal parts learning and discovery… I encourage both students and teachers to create a culture which celebrates mistakes as a part of the learning process.” Thank you, Mr. Pati for being a crucial part of our amazing Arete community and giving so much to our school. And thank you, to all families who support Arete Prep! We are so incredibly grateful and without your partnership we would not exist. If you haven’t yet given, it’s never too late.
