Giving Tuesday at Archway Chandler Facebook Twitter Email This Post Archway Chandler December 3, 2024 Re-organized three years ago, KINGDOMS has flourished at Archway Chandler! Kingdoms are a community within a community. You have your outside community, your school community and then you have your Kingdom. Each student is placed in their Kingdom, named for a land in literature, starting in kindergarten, staying with the same Kingdom through their Archway years. Each has a distinct color, crest, flag, and 5th grade student leaders called guardians. Fourth graders have the opportunity to apply to be guardians (for the following year) which helps them develop leadership skills. GIVE TO ARCHWAY CHANDLER Currently led by Archway teachers, Mrs. Covone and Mrs. Thompson, the Kingdoms meet quarterly for a STEM competition. Guardians announce the student and the teacher of the week every Friday. Students are recognized for showing one of the nine virtues above and beyond expectation via a Virtue card which is given by teachers. After receiving a virtue card, the student drops it into a designated Kingdom bin by the headmaster’s office. Virtue cards are then counted weekly and added to a running-points total! Virtue tags, which can be displayed on student backpacks, are given to students who consistently show one of the virtues to “be proud of their words and deeds” according to Headmaster Brady. Kingdom activities take place throughout the year in support of school and outside communities. Students participate in Kingdom-led food drives, blanket drives, and write letters to our troops and nursing home residents. “Just as the curricula helps our students develop academic skills, Kingdoms helps them to develop teamwork and character,” said Mrs. Brady.
