Glendale Prep Alumni Gives Back – Mrs. Ani Beck, Class of 2020

This Giving Tuesday we celebrate Mrs. Beck, one of our amazing ESS Interventionists! Mrs. Beck started at Glendale Prep in 2013 when she was in 6^th grade. “Right away I remember feeling so welcomed by the other students and I loved how natural it was to be friends with people from different grades.” The community and culture remind Mrs. Beck why she decided to come back and work at Glendale Prep when the opportunity arose last year. “The community I was able to form as a student made me feel supported. I loved the relationships I formed with teachers throughout my years as a student. The curriculum is demanding, but supportive teachers make a world of difference, and they were right alongside us as we grew. Participating in sports was one of my favorite memories of Glendale Prep. Some of the friends I made early on at Glendale Prep are still close with me today.”

Mrs. Beck graduated from Glendale Prep in 2020 during the beginning of lockdowns. She felt as if she left Glendale Prep too soon and missed out on a big part of her senior year.  She missed the culture of Glendale Prep terribly. As a result, she wanted to give back to the community that shaped her into the person she had become. She loved the idea of seeing familiar faces around campus and getting to pass on the wisdom that Glendale Prep taught her.

As an ESS Interventionist, Mrs. Beck loves being able to work with a small group of students at once so she can focus on their specific needs. “I have an amazing team, and I love the people I get to work with every day. My job challenges me to get creative with how I deliver material. I feel like I learn something new every day and continue to grow as a teacher, and I have my students to thank for that.”  Her students love her tremendously! Here are some of the things they had to say: “Mrs. Beck is so patient, kind, and explains things well!”  “Mrs. Beck keeps us on track and relates to our needs as students.” “When I don’t understand something, Mrs. Beck takes the time to try and explain it a different way.”  “Mrs. Beck is always positive and kind. It’s fun when she tells us stories about when she was a student at Glendale Prep!”
