Great Hearts Arizona Recognizes Outstanding Achievements of the 2024 Graduating Class

Great Hearts Academies, a network of tuition-free public charter schools in Arizona, Texas, and Louisiana, is excited to share the record-setting achievements of its May 2024 graduating class in Arizona. These seniors were offered over $51.2 million in merit-based scholarships, an impressive amount for the combined senior class of 584 great hearted scholars. And of those 584 graduates, 97% have chosen to immediately continue their education by enrolling in colleges and universities across the nation.

“Great Hearts graduates will take into the world a deep passion for service and the wisdom to lead and love well,” said Brandon Crowe, Superintendent of Great Hearts Arizona. “Their scholarship monies and college acceptances – though impressive and record-setting – are only the tip of the iceberg representing the magnanimity of these graduates. They are ready to bless the world in college, career, and wherever the next step of their journey may take them.”

The achievements of these students go beyond scholarships and college acceptances. Great Hearts Arizona students have excelled academically, with an average ACT score of 23.7, which is 2.7 points higher than the national average. A Glendale Prep senior, Alessandro Marcolini, received a perfect score of 36 on the ACT. Great Hearts scholars scored an average SAT score of 1259, surpassing the national average by 209 points. These results reflect the rigorous classical education and dedication to intellectual growth that are hallmarks of the Great Hearts curriculum.

The Class of 2024 has shown a strong commitment to the pursuit of excellence in various fields. A remarkable 79% of the graduates received merit-based scholarships, highlighting their hard work and determination. Nearly half of the class, 49%, is moving forward in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines, positioning themselves to be leaders in some of the most critical and innovative fields of study. Additionally, 18 students were named National Scholars, 14 students were National Merit Commended, and ten were distinguished as National Merit Finalists, further showcasing the academic caliber of this graduating class.

At Great Hearts Academies, education goes beyond academics. It is about shaping individuals who are knowledgeable, virtuous, and equipped to positively contribute to society. The accomplishments of the graduating class reflect the effectiveness of the classical education model embraced by Great Hearts. This approach, which emphasizes critical thinking, character development, and a love for learning, has prepared these graduates to excel in higher education and beyond.
