Richard HirthArizonaGreat Hearts is excited to announce one of its students is part of the 2019 Valley of the Sun Chapter National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Class. Richard (Max) Hirth III is a senior at Trivium Preparatory Academy, in Goodyear, and is one of only a handful of football players in Arizona who will receive this distinguished honor at a special ceremony on April 6.

“Football has always been a passion of mine and I couldn’t be more excited to represent my school with this award,” said Hirth. “There are so many people who have helped get me to this point in my athletic career and it really does take the support of my friends, family and coaches.”

In addition to playing football Hirth is a starting pitcher on Trivium Prep’s varsity baseball team. He was also named first team all-region last season as a junior and he was second team all-region as a sophomore. Hirth also has a 4.0 GPA. Trivium Preparatory Football Coach, Michael Spencer, will also be honored at the event.

“Hirth comes to every practice with an incredible amount of dedication,” said Spencer. “We were the only 2A school to qualify this year and it doesn’t surprise me that he was picked with as much passion and hard work he gives us on the football field.”

Hirth will also be awarded a scholarship. The mission of the National Football Foundation is to promote amateur football and help develop the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, competitive zeal and the drive for academic excellence in Arizona’s young people.

“We are very proud of Richard,” said Heidi Vasiloff, headmaster at Trivium Preparatory Academy. “It really is quite fulfilling to see one of our own excel and be recognized as an athlete and academic.”
