The Virtue Podcast–Good Conversations around the Great Conversation

GHI Podcast
The Great Hearts Institute (GHI) is adding The Virtue Podcast to its rapporteur of platforms the Institute produces to provide direct support to educators, school leaders, and families in the tradition of classical education. The podcast is hosted by Dr. Robert L. Jackson, Executive Director of GHI.  “We are delighted to host video-podcasts of conversations with expert-scholars, school leaders, and teachers who are promoting classical, liberal arts education in schools like Great Hearts—all across this country,” said Jackson.

“For generations, classical education has been carrying forward a perennial tradition that speaks to the challenges of the present day, a form of schooling that trains young people to know what is needed for human flourishing. Classical education inspires students to develop their talents and fulfill their potential, for themselves and for the common good,” explained Jackson.  “The VIRTUE Podcast will host conversations around those themes with teachers, leaders, and scholars—all of whom are finding their fulfillment in the advancement of classical education.”

The podcast will compliment other works of GHI that include:

  • VIRTUE magazine, a free quarterly publication with entries from the cutting edge of the classical renaissance
  • Web articles and talks from Advisors, Fellows, and Symposium presenters
  • The GHI Blog of book reviews, teacher interviews, scholarly insights, and more

“We are committed to fostering conversations with individuals who are insightful, inspiring, and pointedly addressing the contemporary questions all around us,” said Jackson of the upcoming guests featured on the podcast, many who also present at the institute’s flagship event, the National Symposium for Classical Education.  This annual event serves as a forum where Great Hearts teachers and school leaders join classical educators from around the country to experience the finest research and training available.

In 2023, the National Symposium for Classical Education will be held in Phoenix, February 22-24, and will focus on The Tradition Today – an exploration of classical education in a modern society and its relevance in a world preoccupied with the growing influence of social media and the race for the next technological advancement. Hosting professionals, professors, artists, and thought leaders, the Great Hearts Institute will provide Great Hearts Academies and scores of other classical schools with a robust 3-day program designed to nurture the continued growth of classical education in America.

The Virtue Podcast premiers Tuesday, August 30th, 2022 with its inaugural guest, Andrew Zwerneman, the founding president of the Cana Academy.  Future episodes will be released on Tuesdays on the Great Hearts Institute YouTube channel.
