As you probably already know, these events in general can be exhilarating and exhausting all at the same time. And sometimes, they may induce a moment of anxiety as you imagine navigating all the conversations and questions. A little preparation can do wonders in alleviating your jitters and manifesting the best possible experience. Arizona Hiring Events – 2.3.2024 North Texas Hiring Event – Fort Worth – 2.15.24 North Texas Hiring Event – Irving – 2.22.24 West San Antonio Hiring Event – 2.27.24 East San Antonio Hiring Event – 2.29.24 Are you attending a Great Hearts Academies Hiring Event this month? If so, here are a few tips: Pre-register for the event in your area! By pre-registering, you’ll be certain to receive relevant details, reminders, and helpful tips from the Talent Team about your upcoming event. Visit the Great Hearts website to learn more about the philosophy, curriculum, and approach. School leaders will want to hear from you about the reasons you are applying specifically to Great Hearts! Make a plan for which schools interest you the most. Great Hearts will serve over 25,000 students in 45 academies this fall and doing some basic research on the schools in your area as well as your preferred grade levels, will help you focus your attention on the right tables once you arrive at the event. You are encouraged to visit all of the tables of course, but don’t miss out on the ones that interest you the most. Develop a few talking points or questions for conversation. If you have already visited the Great Hearts website or know good deal about our model, be prepared with a few topics that show why you are passionate about joining us, or how our philosophy aligns with yours. And Great Hearts loves good questions! Feel free to prepare a few questions to ask school leaders that help you discern what school or position is best for you. Have a digital or hard copy resume handy. While Great Hearts will follow up with you to obtain your resume, it’s always nice to share one with a prospective employer right there at the event. Sometimes it prompts interesting connections with the school leader, which makes conversation flow much more easily! At Great Hearts, we love to see resumes that indicate an affinity for classical liberal arts education, and even if you haven’t had formal experience in teaching, be sure to note any experiences you’ve had working with children, even in volunteer roles such as coaching. These show your love for working with children, which is at the heart of our mission! Consider what to wear. While it’s not a priority, attire is an often-asked question! Consider aligning what you wear with the position for which you are applying. For instance, Great Hearts teachers wear professional attire, so if you are interested in teaching with us, you may want to opt for something near or at that level. If you’re coming from another event that makes it hard, please don’t worry – we are just delighted that you have chosen to attend! With numerous opportunities that for all candidates – whether aspiring recent college graduates, or military veterans, or career professionals transitioning from other fields, Great Hearts provides meaningful pathways for you to build a career that impacts the formation of students both academically and morally.
