Junior Basketball Player at Arete Prep Scores 1,000 Career Points Facebook Twitter Email This Post Arete Prep February 26, 2025 With the roar of the crowd, the squeak of sneakers, and the weight of a milestone within reach, Harrison Kremer knew this was his moment. A junior at Arete Prep, Kremer etched his name in school history by scoring his 1,000th career point on the Arete varsity basketball team, a respected accomplishment for any high school player, and not typically achieved until senior year. “I remember I was 24 points away, so I was just thinking at the start of the game, ‘Let’s just try to do this thing,’” Kremer recalled. His jersey may read #2, but he was #1 at this particular game. “We actually ended up losing the game, but coach came up and said that I scored 1,000.” A varsity starter since his freshman year, Kremer took the milestone in stride, recognizing that it is just one step in his ongoing high school athletic career. “It’s pretty cool, but I still have a lot more to do,” he said. Kremer attributes his growth as a player to the discipline that basketball demands. “Basketball’s a hard sport. You’ve got to be in there every day, six times a week. It takes a lot of discipline.” He also draws parallels between athletics and academics at Arete Prep, noting that in both it is a challenge, albeit a surmountable one. “It’s very rewarding when you achieve something in class, and on the court, it’s very similar.” Kremer took a moment to express gratitude to those who have supported him along the way. “I’d like to thank my family, obviously—my mom, my dad, my siblings Jack, Owen, and Maddie. All of them have just made me to be a better person, and without them, I wouldn’t be doing the stuff I’m doing right now.” His brother Jack, an alumnus of Arete Prep, is now his assistant coach. Having his older brother by his side has made this season even more meaningful. He also acknowledged the role of his teammates. “They just make the sport so much more enjoyable. Whether it’s conditioning or going through a tough loss, it’s just nice to know that they’re going through it with me.” Kremer just finished out his junior year basketball season, but this accomplishment is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting senior year ahead. His discipline, humility, and gratitude exemplify the virtues of both Arete Prep and Great Hearts Academies, making him an inspiration on and off the court. Last year we saw two students from Arete score their 1,000th point. Grace Howell and Ryan Mourad. In 2025, we saw Glendale Prep’s Senna Smith score her 1,000th point, a first for the school.
