Starting kindergarten is a significant milestone for any young child and their family. To help make this a positive transition, Great Hearts Arizona offers the Kinder Readiness program during the summer, designed to help incoming kindergarten students build confidence and feel prepared to start school in the fall.

Young scholars will be introduced to the Great Hearts classical curriculum, the academy teachers, and make new friends, many of which will become their classmates. They will also practice the skills needed in kindergarten through a unique curriculum each week. Parents will enjoy seeing their child’s confidence and excitement for kindergarten grow with each week. The program runs from June 2-27, 2025, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at all Archway academies in Arizona (except Maryvale Prep).

Parents appreciate the structure and benefits of the program. “My daughter had a wonderful time and is so excited for the fall,” shared one parent. “It was very well organized and went very smoothly. We are grateful she had this opportunity.”

Katie Rogers, Archway Chandler Campus Coordinator, explained what makes the Kinder Readiness programstand out: “Our Kinder Readiness program is unique from other summer programs because it allows incoming kinder students and families to have an inside look as to what their kindergarten experience will look like at Great Hearts. They will have an advantage to knowing the campus and will be familiarized with other students and teachers.”

The excitement is evident in the students, but the educators who guide them love the program as well. “My favorite part of working with our Kinder Readiness program is seeing how excited our incoming kindergarteners are to be on campus. Everything is so new for them and watching them explore their learning is magical,” shared Rogers. “They are always so happy to attend each day, and I love watching them tell their parents at pickup what they did and learned.”

Great Hearts takes great care in selecting experienced and dedicated educators to lead the program, ensuring that students receive the best possible preparation for kindergarten. “Our Kinder Readiness staff is top-notch. We recruit from academy faculty who have experience working with kindergarten students to ensure the best quality programs we can offer. Our staff care deeply for the success of each student, and it is evident in their growth during the summer program,” said Rogers.

Kim Pfeifer-Adams, Co-Curricular Programs Regional Manager, shared the advantages of the program, stating, “[Kinder Readiness] gets them acclimated to the Great Hearts classroom and culture, they get to meet kindergarten teachers, and it provides them the foundation they need to be successful in their first year of kindergarten at Great Hearts.”

Kinder Readiness is a wonderful opportunity for our young scholars to take their first steps into a lifetime of learning. It bridges the gap between preschool and kindergarten, ensuring that every child feels at home when the school year begins.
