Salute to Our Great Hearts Veterans: Kristopher McCoy

Archway Classical Academy Trivium November 5, 2022

Kristopher McCoy in the Militaryhttps://www.marines.milGreat Hearts Academies are pleased to recognize, celebrate, and honor some of the amazing Veterans in our schools who have not only served our country in the military, but have continued to do outstanding work to support the students of Great Hearts.

Kristopher McCoy is in his first year of teaching K-3 Music at Archway Classical Academy Trivium.  “He brings a gentle heart and a distinctive strength to the work. Nothing better than a Marine for kindergarten music!” said headmaster, Clay Scott.

“In the Marine Corps I learned about attention to detail, work ethic, timeliness, and decisiveness,” said McCoy.  “I use these skills and more as I interact with the scholars in my classroom on a daily basis to teach them about music, integrity, and other virtuous traits.”

McCoy served in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) with the rank of Corporal, E-4.  He completed his basic training at Marine Corp Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, California.  His training continued with Infantry and Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAV) training at Camp Pendleton in California.  His Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) training took place overseas at Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan.

“The Marine Corps teaches one to adapt to their surroundings and overcome any obstacle that presents itself in their path. This has been a great skill as I navigate the ins and outs of teaching K-3.”

Please join Great Hearts in honoring Veterans like John Fowler and many others who have served our country.
