Senior Spotlight: Alex Curry

Alex Curry, a senior at Scottsdale Prep will be attending Duke University where he will double major in Public Policy Studies and Economics with a concentration in Finance. Alex is a significant presence on our campus both physically and figuratively.  At 6’8” it’s hard not to notice Alex. His warmth and generosity of spirit are what make him stand out. His contributions have impacted Speech & Debate, varsity golf and varsity basketball, the cultural food club and ultimate frisbee. He is also an SPA mentor and tutor, and he models on a daily basis what it means to be greathearted for our younger students.

Alex was selected to attend The American Legion Boys State and was also chosen as a student to represent SPA at the Rotary Youth Salute, a program that recognizes the top leadership achievers from a variety of high schools in Scottsdale. His oratorical gift is evident by his numerous achievements in Speech & Debate. Alex has won two state championships in Public Forum Debate and qualified as a state runner-up in Congressional Debate three years in a row. He also represented SPA in the Big Apple Round Robin Debate Tournament in New York City.

Alex knows how to have fun, has a great sense of humor and enjoys paintball. He runs an online business selling vintage trading cards and is a PADI Suba Certified Diver. After high school, he plans to coach a Debate Summer Camp before he heads off to Duke. Well done, Alex!
