Trivium Prep Coach Beth Wilson Named Arizona Volleyball Coach of the Year Facebook Twitter Email This Post Trivium Prep January 10, 2025 Trivium Preparatory Academy is celebrating their beloved Girls Varsity Volleyball Head Coach, Beth Wilson, who has been named the 2023-24 Arizona Volleyball Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). This recognition highlights all the amazing work she has done for the Lady Knights Volleyball Team, her exceptional career that has spanned well over a decade, and her dedication to her athletes. Coach Wilson has led the Trivium Prep volleyball program for 12 years, starting in 2013 with the Great Hearts Middle School League before transitioning to CAA in 2014 and AIA in 2015. Under her guidance, the teams have achieved extraordinary success, with an AIA regular season record of 130-23 and an overall record, including tournaments, of 230-79. Additionally, her CAA record stands at an impressive 25-2. Her tenure is marked by numerous accolades, including two state championships: the 2023 AIA State Championship and the 2014 CAA State Championship. As head coach of Trivium Prep’s beach volleyball team since 2017, she has also led her athletes to a commendable 48-24 record. Coach Wilson’s individual coaching honors reflect her consistent excellence. She has been named 2A West Region Coach of the Year five times (2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2023) and 2A Conference Coach of the Year twice (2018 and 2023). Her accolades also include CAA D2 Region Coach of the Year and CAA Conference Coach of the Year in 2014. Beyond the court, Coach Wilson is deeply involved in the Trivium Prep community. Since 2020, she has served as a sixth-grade music teacher, cultivating creativity and teamwork through music in her classroom. Coach Wilson’s philosophy centers on the invaluable life lessons athletics impart. “Athletics prepare individuals for numerous important aspects of life,” she said. “Athletes learn to work hard while doing something they enjoy, which then motivates them to push themselves physically and mentally towards being the best they are capable of being.” She believes that athletes learn to perform under pressure, to forge relationships with people from different walks of life, to be dependable and to count on others, to problem solve and manage stress, to take constructive criticism and to apply it for their benefit, the importance of self-confidence and positive self-talk, the ability to manage time, to lead, and how to work well with others for the benefit of all. “Coaching volleyball has been one of the most cherished opportunities I’ve had in life,” she shared. “The athletes I’ve had the pleasure of coaching have made my life better and have taught me more than I ever dreamed possible.” This latest honor is far from the last for Coach Wilson. She is now the Arizona nominee for the NFHS National Volleyball Coach of the Year award, a recognition that would solidify her place among the top coaches in the nation. The Trivium Prep community, along with the broader Great Hearts Academies network, is cheering her on as she continues to inspire and lead with excellence.
